One major reason Paul Mengert, CEO of Association Management Group (AMG), founded his esteemed firm in 1984 is based on two important things. He based the company on his life in service to education and he also based it in his hometown of Greensboro based on his strong commitment to community. That is also where he majored in both Political Science and Communications at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Over the years, he has also taught numerous courses in his role as part of a Management Development Program for Harvard Business School Alumni Association of nearby Charlotte, North Carolina, in addition to his teaching work with AMG.

Paul Mengert’s work with AMG teaches courses designed to make homeowners’ associations’ staff better at their job, but he has also taught courses as a member of the national senior faculty for the Community Associations Institute for years. The classes he teaches there and at AMG are good enough to provide realtors with continuing education credits that are honored by groups like the South Carolina and North Carolina Departments of Real Estate, the California Department of Real Estate and the Florida Bureau of Condominiums, among others.

It would be something of an understatement to claim education as an important element of the career of Paul Mengert, AMG (Association Management Group) founder and current chief executive officer (CEO). For one thing, AMG is a management company with a goal of teaching managers and staff at homeowners’ associations (HOAs) how to do their jobs better. That means creating a better atmosphere and a better outcome for homeowners. AMG functions much like a shorter version of a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program. Better yet, it is modeled after the MBA program at Harvard Business School, where Paul Mengert studied once upon a time.

Many of the classes in the AMG program are taught by Paul Mengert and his fellow Harvard Business School alumni, many of whom just happen to have settled into the Greensboro, North Carolina area. Like Paul, they, too, want to give back to their community. Paul Mengert was born and raised in Greensboro, he went to the University of North Carolina in Greensboro as an undergrad and he purposely located AMG’s offices there because he wanted to provide his community with a solid economic boost. That is how one gives back.
